Steve Bell

Steve studied art in Middlesbrough and Leeds and worked briefly as an art teacher in Birmingham before becoming a freelance cartoonist in 1977. he has drawn comic pages for children's comics and illustrations for many different magazines.
Since 1990 he has produced four large free- standing cartoons for    a week on the leader pages of the Guardian.
His works has been published all over the world and he has won numerous awards, including the What the papers Say Cartoonist of the year in 1993, the XXI Premio "Stira Politica"(Grafica estera) Forte Dei Marrmi,Italy 1993, the Political Cartoon Society Cartoon of the Year Award in 2001 and many other awards.
He has also received honorary degrees from the Universities of Sussex, Teesside, Loughborough and Leeds.
With Bob Godfrery he has made a number of animated cartoons for TV, including a cartoon biography, Margaret Thatcher, acartoon autobiography of George Bush and Tony Blair self-help guide, published by Methuen.
